May Day Show Photos

The photos are up from the May Day Show 2009! It was a beautiful warm day, everyone had a great time, and the show ran smoothly with only a few of the usual hiccups. We had portrait sessions over the lunch hour for anyone wanting pictures with their special friends - this worked out quite well, it's always a good opportunity to take some photos when everyone's cleaned up and dressed up (horses AND riders). And we got some beautiful photos, such as Katee and Beau (above).

I also found a new online gallery site called www.dphoto.com. It's got a lot of the things I was looking for in a gallery -mainly,it's got a nice clean interface, it's super simple to use, and it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles. All this for a pretty reasonable price.

Ilka Ferguson and CA Prom Queen

Just finished processing this photo from Scottsdale and I was so pleased with it, I thought I'd post it on the blog. This is Ilka Ferguson of DeWinton, AB, riding Wanda Leubner's CA Prom Queen. The sun at Scottsdale is very glaring, so here I've burned in the background a bit (particularly the white chairs) so that the dark horse stands out more.

Racehorses Talkin' Smack

(In case you're wondering how it turned out, the European Raven's Pass scored an upset in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita. Defending champ Curlin faded to fourth in the stretch. Big Brown took a chunk out of his foot a little less than two weeks before the race, and retired to a breeding career.)

Horse Book Reviews

Just a note to let everyone know - our new site, Horse-Book-Reviews.com, is now online! Originally starting out as the Bookshelf section of Sport Pony Magazine, the reviews have run wild on their very own web site and we have numerous books in the que for review. Our first new review is for a "charming little gem," - Is Your Horse a Rock Star?
